Morten Meldgaard is associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts, School of Architecture, Institute for Building, Landscape & Planning. He has a PhD in film and architecture and is furthermore trained as a film director at the National Danish Film School and as an architect at the Royal Danish Academy. He is heading the program: ”Complexity and practice” at the Royal Academy School of Architecture (KADK) and also teaches part time at the National Danish Film school, where he was also head of research (2013-14). The aim of KOM is to educate the next generation of architects, planners and decision makers in a way where they can innovate, invent and take action in climate issues, while building bridges between professions and keeping our core professional values as architects intact. Those values are beauty, usefulness and clarity.
In 2017 Meldgaard did a short-film with 180 students from KADK about the UN 17 sustainable development goals called Copenhagen 17/17 and co-curating the international lecture series at KADK: “Architecture, Urbanism and progressive ecology” with among other Prof. Timothy Morton. In the fall of 2018 Morten has been co-creating the CHERISH event at the famed Copenhagen Marble Church with a gigantic pink cloud consisting of 16.000 artificial flowers. He published the feature length documentary ”KIM” (2009) and a Double CD entitled ”Soundtrack_Remix” (2010). His thesis ”Clocks for Seeing” was accepted in 2009. He has written articles and papers for a variety of magazines and conferences and is an active lecturer in academia.
